Sometimes a Slow Week Hotshotting is a Good Thing

I know it sounds goofy, but there are times when a slow week hotshotting can be a good thing.  A very good thing indeed.

Just because life is the way it is, with unexpected events that require several immediate remedial activities being done to prevent things from spinning out of control into total chaos, there are times when it’s good to have the flexibility to just stay home and deal with it.

This past week and a half has been one of those times for BB and me.

In other words, when the you-know-what comes out of left field and hits the fan, it’s a good thing to be there to clean up the mess fast, before it has time to get any worse.

Now, it’s not good that the money stops when the work stops, that’s pretty much never a good thing, but there are things that are more important than money coming in, and we’ve been dealing with a couple of those lately.   Still, it’s very true that if we had to rely strictly on the hotshot side of our businesses for our living, we might be in trouble, but fortunately BB has the good sense and skills to keep us “diversified” and his business seems to pick up when mine falls off.

So it’s been a good thing for me to be home, helping in a hands-on way, far, far better than me just being a long distance cheerleader if you get my drift.  Moral support is good, but actually being where you need to be to be truly helpful when things get all wonky is a whole lot better.

Now that we have our little “wild-fires” put out, or at least somewhat under control, it would be nice if the hotshot side of things would pick back up again, and I suppose it will.

But I’m thankful that things worked out the way they did.

Sometimes things just do that, and it’s kind of nice.
